Mogul is drilling off the Caribbean island of Tambego, but its self-styled ruler, King Watt, refuses to grant land facilities. Watt's daughter Elizabeth sees Thornton as her way out, while French anthropologist Dr. Leduc fears Mogul will wreck her experiment on the islanders.
