With Mogul's bunkering depot in Aden under threat after the British withdrawal, Brian Stead goes to Sudan himself to assess the old port of Suakin as an alternative. There he meets a wartime colleague and Helena, a woman from his past, who urges him to leave business behind. In London, Willy Izard decides to test the port by sending a tanker, while Peter Thornton and Eileen O'Rourke uncover a problem in the channel.
